A hand-tufted wool rug created specifically for the Porifera Coffee Table.
Inspired by the table’s distinctive marine-sponge motif, its flowing composition extends the character of the piece onto the floor through a pattern of organic shapes and contrasting contours.

Design Concept
The Porifera Rug was conceived to expand the visual identity of the Porifera Coffee Table beyond the object itself.
Rather than serving as a simple base, it creates a dedicated surface around the table, reinforcing its presence within the interior and turning the area beneath it into part of the overall composition.
Form & Composition
The rug develops through an irregular outline and a network of rounded, organic areas derived from the signature pattern of the Porifera design, itself inspired by the forms of marine sponges.
It can be created in a single color for a more understated result or in two contrasting tones that echo the finish and visual language of the table above.
Hand-Tufted in Italy
Hand-tufted in Italy using 100% New Zealand wool, each Porifera Rug is individually crafted through an artisanal process.
Yarn colors can be selected according to the desired composition, while the pile can be kept at a uniform height for a cleaner graphic surface or developed at different heights to create greater depth and a more sculptural three-dimensional effect.
Each rug is finished with a hand-sewn Mavimatt textile label.
Each Mavimatt rug is individually hand-tufted in Italy. Subtle variations in color, texture, pile height and surface finish are natural characteristics of the handmade process and make every piece unique. A limited amount of fiber shedding may occur, particularly during initial use, as is natural with hand-tufted wool rugs.
