Mavimatt × Eddy Maniez began with the idea of creating a unique artwork from one of the most recognizable forms in the Mavimatt collection: the UFO Armchair.

The collaboration brought together two distinct creative languages: the organic, sculptural silhouette of UFO and Eddy Maniez’s artistic research into tactile surfaces created through silicone and Swarovski crystals.

Rather than treating the chair as a surface to decorate, the project was conceived as a genuine artistic collaboration in which the original design and the artist’s intervention would become part of a single composition.

Before the artist’s intervention, Mavimatt prepared the UFO with a chameleon blue finish and blue velvet upholstery, creating the chromatic base for the artwork.

Eddy Maniez then travelled from France to the Mavimatt atelier with his team, where they worked directly on the piece over several days.

Silicone and Swarovski crystals were applied entirely by hand, gradually transforming the surface of the armchair into a tactile, three-dimensional composition that changes with light and viewing angle.

The completed piece preserves the recognisable form of the UFO Armchair while giving it an entirely new artistic identity.

The reflective crystals, silicone reliefs, chameleon blue shell and blue velvet upholstery interact with the curves of the chair, creating a surface that changes continuously with light, movement and perspective.

Created as a single edition, 1/1, the artwork was signed directly by Eddy Maniez, making each element of the collaboration — design, material, craftsmanship and artistic intervention — part of one unique piece.
