What distinctly sets Medusa apart from ordinary lamps on the market is its shape. This eccentric and imaginative lamp takes its inspiration from jellyfish, specifically their umbrella-like bodies. As we know, the head of a jellyfish (umbrella) tends to assume varying shapes as it floats in the sea, influenced by its movements, positioning, and other factors. Similarly, the shells in the Medusa lamp are each unique; no two are alike.
This piece of art design captures the unpredictability and beauty of nature, embracing the essence of a captivating and largely unexplored world. At Mavimatt, we chose to draw inspiration from this fascinating deep-sea dweller, the jellyfish, to create a product that transcends the simple concept of lighting. Murano glass shells
Each shell in the Medusa lamp is the product of a long and refined Italian tradition: Murano blown glass. These shells, or rather “masterpieces,” are handcrafted one by one by the skilled hands of our master glassblower, who has carried on his art through generations on the island of Murano, Venice. Like all Mavimatt products, Medusa is a testament to the craftsmanship of our Italian artisans.
Medusa consists of three main materials: the lamp base is made from a block of real marble, also handcrafted. The stem is a metallic structure, both slender and sturdy, designed to gently support the small Murano glass masterpieces. This stem is equipped with several Led’s that enhance the transparency and shades of the glass. These special Led’s are capable of creating unique atmospheres in your home lighting, bringing to life something truly enchanting. It’s as if a wave of marine magic seeps into your space, transforming the light into a sensory experience that celebrates the vivid colors and ever-changing shapes of the sea.
The two editions of Medusa
Medusa is available in two editions, allowing for customization in both different colors and materials:
- The Ral Edition: This version allows for customization of the marble base in various types, depending on individual tastes and needs. The metallic stem is painted in either a glossy or matte finish, following the Ral color scale. The shells are available in different colors of Murano blown glass.
- The Chrome Edition: This is a more exclusive edition, where the marble base is still available in various colors, while the metallic stem is finished in exclusive chrome shades like Rose Gold, Yellow Gold, Silver Chrome, etc. The shells, always strictly in Murano blown glass, are also available in various color shades.
Unique details that make a difference
Each Medusa will have an identification plaque, made of aluminum, bearing the Mavimatt brand name as a mark of authenticity and craftsmanship. Like everything else, the plaque is entirely handmade by our expert jeweler.
Packing and shipping
The customer will receive the Medusa lamp fully packed in a custom-made wooden crate, tailored to fit its dimensions to ensure maximum protection during transport from our facility to the final destination. The transport will be secure and protected, with the item delivered already assembled and mounted inside this crate.
Technical details
Each of our masterpieces is a singular work of art, shaped by hand with dedication and passion. The slight variations and imperfections that the final product may have compared to the reference images are hallmarks of our craftsmanship and enrich the uniqueness of each creation.
