Metamorfosi is a handcrafted sculptural chair conceived around the idea of transformation.
Defined by a single continuous body, Metamorfosi changes function according to its orientation. It can serve as a chair, a coffee table, or a display shelf without altering its original form.

One Sculptural Form, Three Functions
Metamorfosi takes its name from the concept of metamorphosis, the ability of one form to change while retaining its identity. This principle is at the core of the design.
Rather than creating separate objects for different uses, Mavimatt developed a single continuous volume that serves different functions depending on its orientation.
In its primary position, Metamorfosi functions as a chair. Rotated, the same body can become a coffee table or a display shelf, revealing a different relationship between support, surface, and volume each time.
This shift in use is not added afterward, but embedded directly in the geometry of the piece.
A Composite Body Shaped and Finished by Hand
Each Metamorfosi is handcrafted in Italy, one piece at a time. Its body is formed as a single structure using fiberglass and carbon fiber, giving the piece both continuity and strength.
Once the shell is created, every surface is worked, refined and sanded by hand to define its flowing edges and clean transitions before the finishing phase begins.
The exterior is then individually coated through a specialist liquid-painting process, applied by hand to each piece.
Every Metamorfosi is completed with an aluminum identification plaque engraved with the Mavimatt logo. Crafted by a specialist jeweler and applied by hand, the plaque identifies the piece as an authentic Mavimatt creation.
RAL Colors, Chrome Finishes, and Tailor Made
Metamorfosi is available in several finish options, each offering a different interpretation of its sculptural form.
The RAL Edition offers a selection of RAL colors with matte or gloss finishes. The Chrome Edition features highly reflective chrome finishes in tones such as yellow gold, rose gold, and silver, with additional metallic colors available on request.
Through Mavimatt Tailor Made, bespoke textures, material-inspired effects, and one-off finishes can be developed for individual clients or specific interiors.
Because its function changes with its orientation, the finish influences how Metamorfosi is perceived as a chair, a coffee table, or a display shelf, giving the same form a different visual presence in each configuration.
Metamorfosi — A Closer Look
Each Mavimatt piece is individually handcrafted in Italy. Subtle variations in surface, tone, texture, form and hand-finished details are inherent to artisanal production and make every piece unique.
