UFO

For nearly twenty years, an object sat largely unnoticed on the desk of the founder’s father. During an evening meeting, its form was seen from a new perspective and became the starting point for an armchair conceived around an unconventional relationship between shell, seat, and balance.

After extensive experimentation, prototyping, and refinement, the idea evolved into UFO, the first product developed by Mavimatt. Its characteristic inclined position creates a sense of controlled suspension, defining its unmistakable silhouette.

The UFO design is internationally registered.

Each UFO is handcrafted in Italy, one piece at a time. Shell construction varies by edition, with fiberglass and carbon fiber used in different configurations. The composite shells are formed, refined, and sanded by hand before finishing.

The upholstered seat is crafted separately to follow the shell’s internal geometry. Depending on the selected configuration, leather, fabric, or velvet is cut and stitched by Mavimatt’s upholsterers.

UFO is designed to maintain its characteristic reclined position while rotating through 360 degrees and gently rocking. Each piece is completed with an aluminum identification plaque made by a jeweler, engraved with the Mavimatt logo and individually applied by hand to the shell.

UFO is available in four distinct editions, each developed around a different approach to materials, finishes and customization.

Each edition preserves the original UFO design while offering its own selection of materials, finishes, and customization options.
