Meteora, a Modern Pouf Inspired by Aerospace Forms
Meteora draws inspiration from the rounded, compact volumes of aerospace vehicles. The outer shell curves around the recessed seat, creating an enveloping profile in which the soft interior appears contained within a protective outer body.
The result is a compact, continuous volume defined by the contrast between its technical exterior and upholstered interior.
A Composite Shell Built Around a Soft Upholstered Seat
Each Meteora is handcrafted in Italy, one piece at a time. Its outer shell is produced using fiberglass and carbon fiber composite materials, shaped and cured through an autoclave process.
After curing, the shell is carefully sanded and prepared by hand before receiving a specialist liquid-coating finish.
The inner seat is built from multiple layers of foam with different densities and then upholstered by hand in leather, velvet or fabric.
As the final step, each Meteora is marked with a Mavimatt identification plaque, handcrafted in matte aluminum by a specialist jeweler and engraved with the official Mavimatt logo. Applied by hand to the finished piece, the plaque serves as a permanent mark of its Mavimatt identity.
From RAL and Galvanic to Carbon Fiber and Tailor Made
Meteora is available in four distinct editions. The RAL Edition allows the outer shell to be specified in colors from the international RAL system, in either matte or gloss finish, combined with the selected upholstery.
The Galvanic Edition introduces chrome finishes such as yellow gold, rose gold, silver, and other metallic tones, achieved through specialist multi-stage coating processes.
The Carbon Fiber Edition features an outer shell made entirely of carbon fiber and cured in an autoclave. The carbon weave remains visible across the surface, with a choice of matte or gloss finishes, making the material itself a defining element of the piece.
Through Mavimatt Tailor Made, custom textures, surface effects and special finishes can be developed in collaboration with the client, together with the upholstery selection.
Meteora — A Closer Look
Each Mavimatt piece is individually handcrafted in Italy. Subtle variations in surface, tone, texture, form and hand-finished details are inherent to artisanal production and make every piece unique. A Custom-Built Crate for Meteora
Built around Meteora’s shape and dimensions to protect it throughout its journey.
Every Meteora is prepared for shipment inside a custom-built wooden crate, made according to its specific shape, dimensions and characteristics. Inside, the piece is carefully protected and secured using dedicated packing solutions designed to limit movement and stress during transportation.
From Italy, we arrange worldwide delivery by road, air or sea, selecting the most appropriate solution according to the destination and the characteristics of the order.
