A Sculptural Bookcase Inspired by Two Faces in Dialogue
Musa originates from the observation of two faces turned toward one another, suspended in a moment of closeness. That image became the conceptual foundation of the bookcase.
The design takes shape as a special composition in which solid forms and open spaces define two figures facing one another. The openings for display and storage are integrated into this dialogue, becoming part of the object’s identity rather than separate functional additions.
The result is a bookcase in which shelving, silhouette and negative space are brought together in a single continuous form, balancing emotional expression with practical use.
A Special Bookcase Shaped and Finished by Hand
Musa is produced in Italy through a fully artisanal process, with each piece made individually rather than through industrial production. Its main editions are developed from a solid body combining fiberglass, metal and carbon fiber.
The structure is progressively carved, milled, shaped and sanded by hand in order to define the complex relationship between shelves, contours and internal openings.
Once the composite structure is complete, its surfaces are carefully prepared and finished using a specialized liquid-coating process, followed by manual finishing.
The Marble Edition is carved from a single solid block of natural marble and refined by Mavimatt’s skilled artisans, preserving the original design while giving Musa a distinctive material character.
Each Musa is completed with an aluminum identification plaque engraved with the Mavimatt logo. Crafted by a specialist jeweler and applied by hand to the base, the plaque identifies the bookcase as an authentic Mavimatt creation.
Monochrome, Two-Tone, Chrome Finishes, and Natural Marble
Musa is available in several editions, each offering a different interpretation of its sculptural form. The RAL Edition offers a wide selection of RAL colors, with matte or gloss finishes.
The RAL Edition can be finished in a single color or a two-tone configuration, highlighting the contrast between its sculptural volumes and openings.
The Chrome Edition features reflective metallic finishes, including yellow gold, rose gold, and silver, with additional metallic tones available on request. These finishes highlight the contours of Musa and strengthen the dialogue between light and form.
The Marble Edition offers a distinctive interpretation of Musa through solid natural marble. Different marble varieties can be selected on request, allowing the veining, color, and natural character of the stone to become an integral part of the finished piece.

Each Mavimatt piece is individually handcrafted in Italy. Subtle variations in surface, tone, texture, form and hand-finished details are inherent to artisanal production and make every piece unique.
