Inspired by the Essential Form of a Sea Turtle
Tarta takes its name and design direction from the sea turtle, reinterpreting the animal’s recognizable silhouette through a simplified, functional form. Its rounded central body evokes the turtle’s protective shell, while projecting elements suggest the head and limbs, creating a sense of movement and balance close to the ground. The result is a unique coffee table with a compact presence and a clear connection to the natural world.
A Metal Coffee Table Shaped and Finished by Hand
In its metal editions, Tarta is handcrafted in Italy, one piece at a time. Each component is shaped and refined by skilled metalworkers through processes including cutting, grinding, sanding, and manual finishing. Particular attention is given to every element to achieve the table’s distinctive sculptural form.
Once the metal structure is complete, its surfaces are prepared for a specialized liquid-coating process, followed by manual finishing.
The Marble Edition is carved from a single solid block of natural marble and refined by hand, preserving the original design while introducing a distinctive material character.
Every Tarta is completed with an aluminum identification plaque engraved with the Mavimatt logo. Crafted by a specialist jeweler and applied by hand, the plaque identifies the table as an authentic Mavimatt creation.
RAL Colors, Chrome Finishes, Tailor Made, and Natural Marble
Tarta is available in several editions, each offering a different interpretation of its sculptural form through materials and finishes. The RAL Edition offers a wide range of RAL colors, with matte or gloss finishes.
The Chrome Edition features reflective metallic finishes in tones such as yellow gold, silver and rose gold, with additional metallic colors available on request.
Through Mavimatt Tailor Made, custom textures, special surface effects, and bespoke finishes can be developed on request to create a personalized interpretation of Tarta.
The Marble Edition is crafted from a single solid block of natural marble, offering a distinctive interpretation of Tarta. Different marble varieties can be selected on request, allowing the veining, color, and natural character of the stone to become a defining part of the finished piece.
Tarta — A Closer Look
Each Mavimatt piece is individually handcrafted in Italy. Subtle variations in surface, tone, texture, form and hand-finished details are inherent to artisanal production and make every piece unique. Every Tarta is prepared for shipment inside a custom-built wooden crate, made according to its specific shape, dimensions and characteristics. Inside, the piece is carefully protected and secured using dedicated packing solutions designed to limit movement and stress during transportation.
